Cause intestinal blockages Rawhide is difficult to digest and can swell several times its size when wet. This can lead to a blockage that can cause severe abdominal pain, fluid loss, dehydration, intestinal rupture, infection, and even death. Contain chemicals Rawhide is processed with chemicals, including bleach and hydrogen peroxide, to clean it. Some rawhides are also covered in formaldehyde, which can increase the risk of certain cancers. No-hide products still put your pet at risk of choking, so it’s very important — no matter the toy — to keep an eye on your dog when they are chewing. If you are choosing to step away from these chews altogether, there are many other alternatives that are guaranteed to be good for your dog. Rawhides Vs. No-Hides BOARDING ON WEEKENDS?
